Collards, Even' Star Champion

Collards: Collards are a type of leafy green vegetable that belong to the same species as broccoli, kale, and brussels sprouts. They are known for their large, tender leaves and ability to thrive in hot summer weather. These plants are relatively low-maintenance and make a great addition to any garden. Collards have a long history in Southern cuisine, and can be enjoyed steamed or used as a healthy wrap alternative.

Growing Tips: Collards need a healthy dose of space so plan for a good 18 inches or so. Before they get that large you can easily harvest a round of radishes or baby lettuce green so don’t be shy about interplanting with something that is ready to harvest quickly.
