Hyacinth Bean: This ornamental vine is visually stunning, but it is important to exercise caution as the “bean" it produces is poisonous when consumed raw. However, once boiled twice, it becomes a staple ingredient in Asian, Thai, and Indian cuisine and look great doing it! Do give it a little space as it can easily grow 15 feet tall or more along a fence or trellis.

Growing Tips: Hyacinth beans grow on tall vives so a trellis is highly recommended. Plant transplants about 6 to 12 inches apart.
