Sunflower, Lemon Queen

These mid-height (roughly 5-6 feet tall) sunflowers produce about half a dozen blooms over the course of the summer. They have a bright, clean yellow color that really shines when cut and brought into the house. Sunflowers are native to North and South America and are cultivated ornamentally or as a food crop in some regions.

Growing Tips: Depending on the final size of the sunflowers they can be planted anywhere from 4 to 12 inches apart. They don’t like too much nitrogen so don’t fertilize before planting, yet they do appreciate well-drained soils.
