Tarragon: This classic culinary herb is an important part of any kitchen. The French include it as one of their Four Fine Herbs along with parsley, chives and chervil. The fresh flavor adds an impressive zip to a multitude of dishes. This French variety, as opposed to the Russian, is the truly culinary type and is often used in chicken, fish and egg dishes.
Growing Tips: Tarragon is a tender perennial and we often lose it to the winter temperatures. That said if you bring it inside it’s possible to save it from year to year. French Tarragon is best planted about 8 inches apart. Harvest by cutting spring 2/3 of the way down the plant to allow for new branching to sprout and provide continual harvests all summer long.
