Lettuce, Little Gem

Introducing our Little Gem plant variety, a baby buttercrunch that has been enjoyed by English grocers for over a century. With its blanched heart and dark green leaves, this plant is a treat for the eyes and the taste buds. For optimal yields, we recommend planting them 6 inches apart, or if you prefer, you can place them in containers or open corners of your garden. Our Little Gem plants are perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any garden or dish.

Growing Tips: Plant lettuce about 10 inches between heads (6 if they are a miniature variety) and keep them well watered. I like to put down a little straw mulch to help keep the soil moist. If they get very dry or very hot they may ‘bolt’ by trying to build a tall center stem with flowers. When they do they get more bitter so eat them quickly!
