Waltham is a variety of broccoli known for its sturdiness and ability to withstand the cold days of fall. This plant produces large, dark blue-green heads that can grow up to 6 inches wide on long stalks. It was originally bred in 1954 to withstand the increasingly cold fall weather. While it is a little heat-sensitive, it can be successfully grown by planting early in the season for an early harvest or later in July for a fall harvest. Waltham is a reliable and resilient plant that will provide a bountiful harvest for those who take the time to cultivate it.

Broccoli: Elevate your garden with Italian heritage broccoli! These nutritional giants produce tender, flavorful heads that outshine anything from the store. Perfect for cool-season growing, plant in early spring or fall for the sweetest harvest. One planting provides multiple harvests – cut the main head and enjoy bonus side shoots for weeks to come!

Growing Tips: Plant broccoli 18 inches apart to ensure adequate light for development. Be sure to use well-drained, fertile soil with plenty of compost.
